Unplugged

with 7 comments

The Microsoft Xbox 360 in India comes with an American power cable with square pins — the kind with the live and neutral at an angle. The one suitable adapter in the house also has square pins. The cable itself is a pretty standard job, interchangeable with any computer power cable, except that the plug on the power brick side has an extra groove cut into it so that nothing else will fit. So, after hauling this very heavy box on my shoulders for a good thirty kilometers — on my bike, in a bag not meant to be a backpack — I have no Xbox love and very sore shoulders.

I finally got a conversion plug for the thing. I had to put up with an extremely crabby hardware store owner who was quite offended when I didn’t let him use pliers to bend the plug pins so they would fit. Ultimately, I had to go for a short bike ride to get the right device.
